Solar Limpets Flat Roof System Support Area

Solar Limpets for flat roof applications are only suitable for side fix rail systems, which employ an M8 or M10 hammer bolt and flange nut to secure the rail to the Limpet hook system.

Standard rail connecting bolts and flange nuts should be sourced from your rail supplier to match your chosen rail.
Solar Limpets supplies the 60mm M8 T bolts required for the flat roof bracket.
When fixing the rail to both the Limpet adjustable bracket and the Limpet flat roof bracket, tightening until the nut bites and then another half to one-third turn is sufficient. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Solar Limpets provides a range of screw lengths from 40mm to 200mm. Longer lengths up to 260mm may be available on application.

For flat roof applications, the standard size of the screw supplied will be 50mm.

For differing decking materials, the screw size required will be dependent on the decking material type, the identification of which is the responsibility of the installer.

The screw fixings supplied by Solar Limpets have been tested with the Solar Limpet baseplate for pull-out loading into 18mm OSB board, a standard timber sheet product used for flat roofing construction, achieving a figure of more than 1.5kn.

The performance of any individual roof will always depend on the age, type and condition of the actual decking fitted. The assessment and suitability of such will always be the installer's or a suitably qualified individual’s responsibility.

Professional pull-out load testing may be required if either the current condition or type of decking material is unknown.
